Well i was rained in again, so i worked from home today… one of the perks of being your own boss, but also from doing all your work on a computer. Now, speaking of computers, my cousin Jeff (who has decided to live the life of a pomme) emailed me about a week ago asking my opinion on the whole PC vs Mac debate. The answer wasn’t a difficult one as i’ve been a mac user and fanboy for the past few years now. But why such an obsession with an OS that only has a 2.3% worldwide market share ?? (based on 2006 figures). And not only that, boy is a Mac more expensive than your common PC!!! Take Dell for instance. A great machine which isn’t expensive at all. Why don’t i just stick with a Dell? And how about Vista? Isn’t Vista’s UI suppose to be similar to OSX?? How about the software? I mean, i do video editing, rigtht? Well Premiere Pro is supposed to be on Par with Final Cut Pro… Hold on… why do i use a Mac? I’d better stop before i convince myself otherwise!!!
Ok, i remembered why… here are the reasons…

Linux is the true power and Mac is not much more than the GNU/Linux project sold as a commercial product with some closed source coding to pad the edges and make it look fancy and professional and easy but at an enormous monetary cost.
Now where did you put your email address… I can’t find it…

And Vista is an over bloated hardware intense (obviously poorly coded where the new eye candy is) product produced by a corporation with the arrogance and monetary power to push around entire 3rd world nations… who were nice enough not to simply allow pirating of the software I might add… over petty details such as refusing to unbundle the messenger in order to comply with federal law.
Not to mention frivolous lawsuits attacking the GNU software project, free software foundation, and the Linux kernel itself…
If it’s not Microsoft then someone else would rise up to fill the shoes of dominance, the shoes that stand in the filth of corporate scum, but it’s no excuse to keep buying it.
